MCCI hosts Mandaue Business Month

THE Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) will be holding a series of business activities this month that are anchored on the theme “Bold Moves; New Frontiers.”

Celebrated every August, the chamber’s flagship project, the Mandaue Business Month (MBM), will showcase events and projects geared towards promoting sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship—promoting Mandaue City to be an attractive destination for business and investment.

“Local businesses should be re-warned once again to be constantly conscious and be prepared to play in the new business environment, which is largely brought about by technology, new market paradigm, regional integration, and the profound effects of globalization to the homegrown businesses,” said MBM 2016 chair Steven Yu.

With a new administration leading the country, MCCI president Glenn Anthony Soco vowed MCCI’s programs will be aligned with President Rodrigo Duterte’s socio-economic agenda, especially those on countryside development.

He said they will intensify existing programs such as the WINNERS (Women in Need Now Entreprenuers and Role Models), Obra Negosyo, and the Cebu Business Upliftment program (CEBU) to empower the micro, small and medium enterprises. He added that they have also upgraded some of their programs to adapt to the changing times.

MCCI is setting aside at least P6 million to P7 million for this year’s MBM 2016. The month-long activity is organized in partnership with the Cebu Provincial Government and the Mandaue City Government.

One of the highlights of the MBM is the Mandaue Business Summit, which will be participated in by some 500 business delegates.

Yu said they have invited top personalities as their key speakers to share their knowledge and expertise on business and corporate excellence.

The speakers this year are architect Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr., inspirational speaker Francis Kong, chief executive officer and president of the Petalver Management Consultancy Services Jonathan Petalver, dean of Ateneo School of Government Ronald Mendoza and reform activist Orion Perez Dumdum.

Other MBM events include business seminars, tree planting, investment forum, A Maze Mandaue, property and investment expo, medical mission, and the chamber’s night.
