ANGELES CITY -- A nine-year-old boy was arrested by officials of Barangay Balibago after being suspected of stealing a motorcycle yesterday.
Balibago Barangay Chairman Rodelio Mamac said that the owner parked the motorcycle in front of his house located near the barangay hall before the boy took it away.
Mamac disclosed that the boy, whose parents are both in jail for illegal drugs, was instructed by his older companions to steal the bike and bring it to the nearest 7-Eleven convenience store.
Tricycle drivers and Bantay Bayan members pursued the boy who was later brought to the barangay hall for interrogation.
“When interviewed, the boy confided that he was instructed by his adult companions to steal the motorbike and drive it to 7-Eleven where they will be waiting. Unfortunately, he was apprehended by the pursuing trike drivers and Bantay Bayan,” Mamac said.
The suspects, Mamac said, are from Roxas Street in Barangay Dau, which is a known illegal drug den.
“What happen to our youth in the future if we will not be vigilant in our duties and responsibilities? They suffer because of irresponsible parents who are involved in illegal drug activities and now they are in jail. A lesson must be learned from the incident,” Mamac said.
