SAINT Francis de Sales Learning Resource Center (SLRC) of the Saint Vincent Diocesan Pastoral Church bagged five gold medals to top the White Cane Safety Week sports competition.

Aside from the five gold medals, SLRC also grabbed six silvers edging Baguio School for the Deaf (BSD) with five gold medals while the Baguio SPED finished third with two gold and three silver.

FARAD Organization of Orthopedics finished the competition with two gold and two silvers while the Deaf Unity Association of Baguio (DUABC) had two gold as the Special Education of Easter College landed sixth place with one silver and three bronze.

Medals were hauled by athletes with hearing deficiency and orthopedics from elementary, high school and open categories.

In the elementary category, Louise Alberto Riolada of SPED Baguio bagged two gold when he clocked in 2:33.38 in 50 meters backstroke and finished the 50 meters freestyle in 3:25.56 for the boy's.

Daneca Rodado of BSD meanwhile finished with three gold medals in the 50 meters backstroke, 50 meters breast stroke, and 50 meters freestyle in the distaff side.

In the high school boys category, Armando Dizon of BSD bagged two gold after topping the 50 meters breast stroke clocking in 1:06.74 and the 50 meters freestyle in 57.56 seconds.

Steven Rhey Bag-ongan of SLRC got the gold in the 50 meters backstroke (1:05.43) and bagged two silvers in the 50 meters breast stroke (1:39.47) and 50 meters freestyle (1:11.97).

Cristal Fernandez of SLRC meanwhile bagged two gold in the 50 meter backstroke (1:28.03) and 50 meter freestyle (1:15.37) while Jazelle Rachma Sagun bagged two silver in backstroke (2:08.44) and freestlye (1:28.31) with Carmela Lomerez of SPED Easter bagging two bronze in backstroke (2:31.70) and freestyle (1:57.17).

In the boys' open category, SLRC Alumni Gaberdino Paungan earned two gold medals in the 50 meters backstroke (1:13.71) and 50 meter freestyle with Jarryd Mortela bagging two silvers in backstroke (1:32.90) and the freestyle (1:06.77).

For the girls' division, Katherine Rulloda of DUABC finished with two gold medals winning in the backstroke (1:21.32) and freestyle (1:08.66).

In the open category for orthopedic, FARAD Organization of Orthopedics in Baguio bagged two gold through the efforts of Isidro Luis finishing the 50 meters freestyle in 48.18 seconds and the 100 meter freestyle (2:15.34) while his Melchor Bantiloc finished second in the 50 meter freestyle in 1:49.35 and the 100 meter freestyle in 4:15.73.
