Former Marawi City mayor says he’s no drug lord

ILIGAN CITY - A member of the immediate family of former Marawi City Mayor Fajad Salic is urging President Rodrigo Duterte to exercise

more care in naming people with alleged ties to the illegal drugs trade.

Speaking in behalf of the Salic family, Datu Jubair Macaumbos, former Marawi City Administrator, said former Marawi City Mayor Fajad

Salic was surprised at the inclusion of his name in Duterte’s list of supposed drug protectors.

“Mayor Salic as part of his governance, was active in anti-drug campaign in Marawi City and even killed suspected illegal drug traders and

pushers," Macaumbos said.

"Mayor Salic is in dilemma sya ngayon kung mag surrender sya ngayon ano naman ang sasabihin niya kay Presiden Duterte? Hindi sya

pwede mag imbento kung ano-anong mga rason," Macaumbos said.

Macaumbos also vehemently denied that former Mayor Solitario Ali and his son Arafat Salic are involved in the illegal drugs trade.

Macaumbos said the list, which he said must have come from the Philippine National Police in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City, is politically

motivated.

The office of the Marawi City police refused to comment on the allegation.

Marawi City Mayor Majul U. Gandamra has intensified the city’s anti-drug campaign in coordination with the Philippine National Police.
