2 men shot dead in Cebu; 1 mistaken for someone else

TWO drug users were shot dead in separate shooting incidents Monday, August 8, while one victim of mistaken identity was shot and wounded Sunday, August 7.

Clark Alviola, alias Topyak, was shot dead around 12:10 a.m. Monday at Sitio Fatima, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City, by a gunman who remained unidentified.

Alviola was walking along the alley when the gunman shot him from behind, hitting his nape.

Richel Casinillo, nurse of Poblacion Pardo Emergency Rescue Team, said that Alviola died on the spot.

Police recovered one empty shell of caliber .45 from the crime scene.

Alviola was allegedly a drug user. He was subjected to Oplan Tokhang earlier, said police.

Around 1:10 a.m., Melencio Ramirez was shot dead at Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

Ramirez was seen lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds on his upper arm, stomach and head.

Investigation revealed that the victim was sitting along the road with other bystanders when two men onboard a motorcycle shot him.

Ramirez was an alleged drug runner and user, and was earlier advised to surrender via Oplan Tokhang.

The third victim, Rolito Ordinarya, was shot Sunday while crossing the streets at the intersection of Panganiban and Magallanes in Cebu City.

Ordinarya saw two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle moving toward him. The rider shot the victim once, but said "Uy di man ni mao (This is not the target)," and fled.

The gunmen made a U-turn and went back to the victim to pick up something.

Ordinarya sustained a gunshot wound on his upper left hip and was immediately brought to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Police recovered from the crime scene one empty shell of caliber .45 and two live ammunitions.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was mistakenly identified by the suspects. (Tovya Kaiko Galeon, USJR intern/Sunnex)
