32 police personnel--including 15 police officials, 16 police non-commissioned officer, and a retired official--presented themselves to Dela Rosa after they were identified by President Rodrigo Duterte as participants in the illegal drugs activities.

"This is the worse thing that can happen. He said they will be accounted by their respective units and they are also directed to turn–in their issued firearms.

The PNP chief said he is hoping that the personnel who surrendered would change and withdraw themselves from doing illegal drugs.

"Hangga't ako ang PNP chief hindi ako papayag na nakikinabang kayo sa pera ng droga. Hinding-hindi ako papayag," he said.

"Panahon na ito para magbago. Wag natin ibaba ang ating sarili, let us bring pride to this uniform, mahalin natin ito, wag tayo magpasilaw sa pera, kalimutan natin ang pera. Hindi nyo alam ngayon 'yung pera sa gambling at pera sa illegal drugs, 'yung ibang involved sa illegal gambling yan na rin ang involved sa illegal drugs," he added.

'To be in restricted units'

In addition, the cops who surrendered will not be allowed to leave the national police headquarters premises.

PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) Acting Inspector General Chief Superintendent Leo Angelo Eleuterio said the police personnel will only be allowed to go out the police headquarters once investigation on them is finished.

He said the police personnel will be put on floating status and they will have to surrender their service firearms.

"I only had short interaction with them. Wala pa kaming pagusapan na ganun," said Eleuterio when asked if anyone of the surrendered police personnel have already admitted link to illegal drugs activities.

Eleuterio said they are expecting more policemen from Duterte's list to surrender and proceed to the IAS office in Camp Crame.

"We will recommend that they be in restricted units," he said. (Sunnex)
