(Foreword: this is the continuation of our reply to Amihan of PAG IBIG regarding her problem with addiction to junk foods.)
DEAR Amihan of PAG IBIG,
Now, let’s get a few more steps that you can take to help you get the most with your life. Now, here are some excuses that you might have been doing all these time.
C. “I am helpless. I am lost. Where do I start from here?”
Why are you lost? Did the air puff you out? You shouldn’t be. After all, you are air. You are amihan, right?..hehe.
I know and I fully understand where you are coming from. But, don’t worry, you can always get to where you want to be - if you just arm yourself with perseverance and commitment.
Remember, you only need six weeks of healthy eating so that you will be able to free yourself from all of your dependency to junk foods. I encourage you to try eating the way we would naturally intend to. Stuff your plate with lots of grains, veggies, fruits and lean meat.
Stay away from processed foods. The next time you go to the grocery, don’t reach for your comfort foods. Fill up your fridge with these healthy foods instead.
Remember, when you can’t see these junkies in your place then you won’t be able to reach for them. Well, you can always imagine eating chips or cookies while munching on those veggies. Why not? Your imagination can take you to whatever heights that you want. Just be sure, you don’t jump..hehe.. Yes, you can! Your imagination can take you to greater heights to make you reach your dreams fast. But, with these six weeks of unlearning to love those salt and sugar would just be a breeze. Avoid counting the days. Just persevere and enjoy each day.
Again, this is impossible to do - if you don’t commit yourself 101 percent to this. So, give yourself this much commitment and perseverance. Without this, this dream would just be a dream. But, if you are 101 percent committed, I believe you will be on your way.
I want to talk about some other steps that you can take to help you reduce your junk food intake so that you can win this war for your heart and hips, however, we don’t have a lot of space for all of it to fit this column for now so let me continue this in my next issue. Until then!
