Dads push for computerization in La Trinidad

FOLLOWING the proposed ordinance to use cashless transactions in all local government offices and departments, the municipality of La Trinidad is also looking to push for the computerization of the town’s services.

In line with the streamlining of processes in all government sectors, the first class municipality is planning to come up with a concrete policy for the automated interconnectivity of the various workplaces.

This includes online billing in tax, revenues, and other fees due to the municipal government.

In a recent Sangguniang Bayan session, councilors wished improving the LGU’s capability to sustain an efficient way of dealing with the clients it services daily.

Councilor Roderick Awingan said the council needs to establish an ordinance to jumpstart the improvement of the system within the various offices.

“It’s about time for the computerization of our municipal transactions. The present technological developments people use is calling for it and we should at least start to shift and adopt some of them,” Awingan said.

In addition, the councilor has already pleaded to pass his proposal particularly the use of electronic payment collection system (EPCS).

This will fast track the collection of fees by way of cashless transactions, which according to him will be more convenient particularly to the businessmen and other clients who are regularly lining up to pay their dues.

“We are a first class municipality, therefore we should move to provide the first class services to our people,” Awingan stressed.

On the other hand, councilors Henry Kipas and Nestor Fongwan Jr. said the council will need to conduct studies whether the annual IT budget of the municipality is enough to support the proposal.

According to the two, the computerization will need proper course of action as the comprehensive automation of services will deal with a huge allocation in order to push through.

Consolidation with the various municipal offices and departments particularly the Treasurer’s Office will be conducted for a clearer outlook of the planned development.

Computerization was earlier pushed by former Mayor Nestor Fongwan Sr., however was not prioritized in the following administrations.
