Elusive drug suspect, gun-for-hire killed

A SUSPECTED drug pusher who allegedly sourced his stash from the provincial jail was killed during a buy-bust operation yesterday afternoon.

The pusher, known as Dem alias Bro and Paparts, who is in his 30’s, fired first at the operatives when he sensed that the decoy was a policeman in his house in Sitio Yellow Bell, Barangay Kalunasan.

“We conducted a two-month surveillance against him because he always managed to slip away,” Chief Insp. Jose Gesto, the chief of the Guadalupe Police Station said.

Gesto said Dem was also a gun-for-hire in their barangay and sourced his drugs from an inmate in the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).

The Guadalupe chief identified the inmate as Arman Tipon-tipon, a drug lord who is serving time in the facility, and was also involved in drugs and robbery incidents in 2011.

CPDRC Jail Warden Romeo Manansala said they will investigate the matter.

Gesto said the jail facility confirmed that Tipon-tipon is with them and his customers will remit money to him during visiting period.

He said that Dem operates in the northern and southern part of the Cebu province.

Dem was on the watchlist of the Guadalupe police.

The police also arrested Cheryl Morales, 28, Dem’s runner who denied involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Nanglaba ra man ko (I was only doing the laundry),” Morales said in a Balitang Bisdak report.

However, Dem’s phone rang after the raid while the operatives were doing inventory and they were able to find out that it was Dem’s customers.

At least 25 grams of shabu with a street value of P75,000 and a caliber .45 were confiscated.

In Barangay Ermita, a man was shot dead by an unidentified assailant last Tuesday.

SPO2 Rommel Bangcog, in the Homicide Section told Sun.Star Cebu that they found a cardboard beside the body of the victim that said “PUSHER KO! AYAW KO NINYO SUNDA!!! (I am a pusher. Don’t follow me)”

“We already checked if the victim is part of the TokHang list, but he is not listed,” Bangcog said in Cebuano.

Police said that they don’t know yet if the victim was really a drug pusher pending investigation.

Bangcog said they still lack information about the victim since the residents of Barangay Ermita are not cooperative.

Danny Tagalog, in his 40’s, received multiple gunshot wounds and was shot at a close range given that the area of the incident is a small alley.

With regards to the recent killings with cardboards displayed beside the dead bodies, Bangcog said, “Posible gyud nga gisakyan lang nila sa panahon nga puro drugs ang gipang-pusil, dili pa gyud ta katumbok kon kinsa gyud ana (It is possible that these recent killings about drugs with cardboards are only followed by other assailants, but we cannot pinpoint who really is the real suspect yet),” Bangcog said.

A suspected drug user was stabbed to death yesterday dawn in White Road, Barangay Inayawan.

Police identified the victim as Dennis Impis, 26, who stabbed by two unindentified assailants who were sitting in a nearby bench.

Around 1:30 a.m., while Impis was walking home, the two assailants stabbed him.

According to PO3 Rufino Paelmao of the homicide section, the victim managed to run to a nearby vulcanizing shop to ask for help, but they chased him and killed him.

Impis’s mother, Josephine, alleged that her son was on a temporary liberty after he was arrested last May for violating the Anti-Fencing Law, and attested that he was a drug user, Paelmao said.

At 5:30 p.m. a jeepney dispatcher was shot dead in V. Rama Ave. by an unidentified gunman.

SPO2 Ruth Bongo-Violango said Salem Tenebroso, 34, already knew that his life was in danger.

Sige na man kuno siya’g hisgot nga patyunon na gud siya (He always mentioned that he will be assassinated),” Violango said.

Last month, someone attempted to take his life, but the gun did not work.

As alleged by the victim’s sister, Tenebroso was released from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City after serving time for robbery.

Tenebroso also victimized his customers from a carwash where he worked as an extra.

He succumbed to four gunshot wounds in his upper body.

A slug and three empty shells from a caliber .45 were recovered from the crime scene.
