TWO suspected drug pushers were killed in a shootout with authorities in two separate drug busts in Davao City on Wednesday.
The first incident took place at around 3:35 p.m. inside a lodging inn on Magallanes Street, wherein the victim was identified as Mark Padilla Tamparong, alias Marlon, 33, a vendor, from Garson Compound in Maa.
Initial investigation conducted by the San Pedro Police showed the suspect was shot dead after he resisted arrest and attempted to shoot the arresting officers who conducted the drug bust.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered from the possession of Tamparong one caliber .9mm UZI Submachine pistol loaded with six live ammunition and eight plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
The evidence is now placed at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory 11, while Tamparong’s cadaver was brought to Angel Funeral Parlor.
The second incident took place around 9:58 p.m. along Roxas Street, wherein the victim was identified as Franklin Almano Cabunoc, 48 years old, a resident from Super Block 2 in Barangay 22-C in Quezon Boulevard.
Initial investigation conducted by the Santa Ana police showed that Cabunoc was killed after he missed to shoot the arresting officers during the drug bust.
Recovered from the possession of Cabunoc were one caliber .45 pistol and one sachet of suspected shabu.
All the evidences are now placed at the Soco.
The cadaver of Cabunoc was brought to Angel Funeral Home for his proper disposition.
Data obtained from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) showed that there were already 23 suspected drug pushers killed during a drug bust operation, after they attempted shoot the policemen. (ARSarino, UIC intern)
