A 36-YEAR-OLD suspected drug pusher was shot to death by an unidentified assailant in Sitio Estaca, Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla yesterday dawn.
Police identified the victim as Samuel Labajo Calinawan, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body and head.
A piece of cut-up cardboard with the message “Pusher kami, kamo sunod (We’re pushers, you next)!!!” was attached to his body, which was sprawled on the pavement outside a bakeshop.
Investigation showed that Calinawan surrendered to the police and promised not to sell drugs anymore.
The victim was a known drug pusher in Estaca for several years. He had previous records for violating Sections 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Before the incident at 12:50 a.m., witnesses saw Calinawan walking on the side of the road, later crossing the street toward the bakeshop.
He did not know someone was following him. The gunman shot him several times from behind.
Police found three empty shells of .45 pistol, a cell phone and P300 in cash at the scene.
Two hours earlier, suspected drug pusher and thief Niño Opsima Sabellon, 39, was gunned down by an unidentified assailant riding on a motorcycle driven by another man in Barangay Sangi, Toledo City.
The victim was standing outside a motorcycle store when the passenger of the motorcycle approached him and shot him several times.
Sabellon suffered two gunshot wounds in the chest and in the head. He was rushed to the city’s public hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
