Ex-cop falls in Tacloban drug bust

A FORMER policeman, who is on the police list of high-value targets, was arrested during a drug bust in Barangay 35, Tacloban City, Sunday night, August 14.

Tacloban City Police Director Rolando Bade Jr. identified the suspect as former Police Officer 1 Bernardo Baltar.

Baltar, who went on awol (absence without leave) last year, tried to sell a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to an undercover police agent.

Police confiscated from him P500 in marked money, five plastic sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and two mobile phones.

Bade confirmed that Baltar is on the local police's drugs watch list due to his alleged ties with narcotics syndicates in the region.

The former police officer was taken to the Tacloban Police Custodial Facility and is facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
