POLICE are hunting down the killer of a businessman at Immaculate Conception in Barangay Lubogan in Toril, Davao City on Monday morning, August 15.

The victim was identified as Elmer Dimalaluan Paalan, 44, of the same place.

Paalan was found dead by his family outside their house.

Initial investigation conducted by Senior Police Officer 2 Leo Romero of Toril police, showed that the incident happened at around 11 a.m.

According to the family and the neighbors of the victim, they heard three gunshots.

When they checked outside, they saw Paalan's body lying on the ground near their gate.

Witnesses told police that a white Avanza with temporary plate was seen leaving the area after the incident.

Police revealed that the victim was among drug suspects who were subjected to Oplan Tokhang (Toktok-Hangyo or knock and plead) conducted by the Toril police station last month.

The police are conducting further investigation to identify and arrest the killer, and to determine the motive.

Paalan succumbed to several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

His body was brought to Toril Community Cooperative Funeral Homes for autopsy.

Reports obtained from the Davao City Police Office showed there are already three victims reportedly linked to illegal drugs that were shot dead in the past few days. (Alexander Ray Sarino, UIC inter)
