Cashless transaction okayed in La Trinidad

LA TRINIDAD officials recently passed on third and final reading the proposed ordinance allowing cashless transactions for the various transactions in the different offices and departments.

The proposal dubbed “Institutionalizing the use of access devices for payment of fees, charges, assessments, taxes and other revenues due to the municipality through the electronic payment collection system (EPCS)” is already seeking executive approval.

Councilor Roderick Awingan said the need for the technological advancement particularly in the business transactions involving cash should be upgraded as per necessity and accessibility of the locals.

The proposal was re-introduced last month after being shelved in the previous administration.

Awingan said the improvement will be one of the LGU’s actions in relation to the call of the national government to fast track all government transactions.

Once approved, the ordinance will not only speed up transactions but at the same time prevent or suppress illegal collections made in various offices.

“These will jumpstart the improvements of our system here in the various offices as we also aim to streamline the process for the general public,” he added.

Once permitted by the executive department the municipal board will start sourcing funds for its initial application.

Apart from cashless transaction, the council is also deliberating for the approval of the proposal computerization of the municipal office to interconnect various offices in the municipality.

“It is about time we look to achieving the computerization of our municipal transactions,” Awingan stated.
