Mandaue City’s police stations get brand new patrol vehicles

TO improve police mobility, six brand new vehicles were given to the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) last Tuesday.

The City Government led by Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing turned over six Isuzu D-MAX police patrol vehicles to MCPO Chief Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas.

The vehicles cost the City some P6.2 million. It costs P1.038 million each.

“This is part of Mandaue’s continuing commitment to work hand in hand with the men and women of the PNP to make sure that Mandaue continues to be one of the safest cities in the Metro Cebu area as well the Visayas,” Quisumbing said.

The vehicles were also blessed by a priest during the turnover program at the MCPO grounds last Tuesday morning.

Quisumbing said the City will provide additional three double cab pick-up and another car that can be used for official functions.

The budget for the purchase of the vehicles was included in the 2016 budget during the administration of former mayor and now congressman Jonas Cortes.

But Quisumbing said these were not purchased immediately because of the election ban.

In an interview, Alanas said the six new patrol vehicles will be assigned to the six police stations of MCPO, in addition to their existing vehicles and motorcycles.

“With these vehicles, our efficiency and effectivity in serving the Mandauehanons is upgraded. To the six stations of the Mandaue City Police Office who are the beneficiaries of these vehicles, be responsible in taking care of these and use it solely for its main purpose and not for anyone’s benefit and interest,” Alanas told the police officers.

Aside from the new vehicles, Quisumbing also pledged to provide handheld radios and upgrade the communication system of the MCPO.

The City Government will also upgrade the firearms and rehabilitate the police stations.
