Zamboanguita drug suspect shot dead

ANOTHER top drug suspect was killed by unidentified assailants on motorcycle at Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Jose Ramil Cimafranca, 46, of Poblacion. He was the seventh drug suspect under the station’s target list.

Chief Inspector Rolando Asidoy, head of Zamboanguita Municipal Police Station, said they heard three gunshots coming from Magsaysay Street, Poblacion, about half a kilometer away from the police station, at around 6:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed that Cimafranca was talking to a friend about his alleged illegal drug activity when he was shot by the assailants.

Responding policemen recovered three bullets of .45 caliber.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Asidoy said that on July 22, the town’s top drug suspect was also shot dead by an unidentified assailant.

On August 14, Robert Frias, 37 was killed in front of sari-sari store at Rufo-Yorac Street, Barangay 2 in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

Senior Superintendent William Señoron, acting provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said a facial sketch will be released soon to identify the assailant behind Frias’s death.
