NBI arrests 3 alleged cybercriminals in QC

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested three suspected cybersex operators in an operation in Quezon City.

In a news release issued Thursday, the NBI announced that the NBI-Cybercrime Division has arrested David Jemsen Navarro, Marvin Navarro, and Carl Edward Perez last August 17.

According to NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin, the three were arrested in their residence in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City by a virtue of a search warrant issued by a court in Quezon City.

Lavin said the case against the three stemmed from an information that they are engaged in the distribution and advertisement of pornographic materials and online live shows for their clients in social media.

The NBI said that the evidence they gathered revealed that the three indeed distribute and advertise pornographic shows.

According to the investigation, the suspects use fake social media accounts and pretend to be females in order to lure their customers to sign up to the links directed to a porn site. The customers would then provide their credit card information to gain access to the said website.

Seized from the suspects were computer sets, flash drives, cellphones, and other devices connected to their operation.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act will be filed against the suspects. (Sunnex)
