Notorious thief mobbed, dies

A SUSPECTED notorious thief died after he was mobbed at Barangay 29, Bacolod City on Thursday, August 18.

Police identified the fatality as Ricky Libo-on.

Senior Inspector Gideon Montaño, head of Police Station 1, said Libo-on was seen by the residents on top of one of the houses in the village at around 6 a.m.

The residents called for police assistance. When he sensed the presence of barangay watchmen, Libo-on ran through the rooftops to escape, but he fell and was mobbed by the residents.

When policemen arrived, Libo-on was already in the custody of the watchmen. He sustained head injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he died several hours later.

Montaño said Libo-on was identified as suspect in several theft and akyat-bahay incidents in the area of Police Station 1.
