More improvements eyed for StoBoSa

THE Department of Tourism-Cordillera (DOT-CAR) is eyeing more improvements in the “StoBoSa Hillside Homes Artwork” along Kilometer 3 in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Following the municipality’s accreditation of the mountainside mural as a new attraction, DOT-CAR is pushing to further develop the three sitios: Stonehill, Botiw-tiw, and Sadjap in Barangay Balili into a premiere tourist destination.

DOT-CAR regional Director Marie Venus Tan requested the help of the municipal council to help the department’s campaign in promoting and improving the site before the tourist influx later this year.

During her visit in the Sangguniang Bayan session Tuesday, Tan asked the council to allot funding for the construction of a view deck in StoBoSa to establish a physical character in the tourist spot.

Tan added the council should already study an area where parking areas will be made to accommodate parking for sightseers.

“DOT is asking the help of the Sangguniang Bayan for these matters. As we all know in the next few months, StoBoSa will continue to gather more visitors and just to prepare for it perhaps cooperative action will be needed,” Tan said.

Furthermore, the DOT official also suggested the registration of the name/title “StoBoSa Hillside Homes Artwork” to the Security and Exchange Commission.

“SEC registration is highly advised because we are already marketing the place and of course the identity for it must be listed especially that plans to include it in DOT’s digital marketing was already noted,” she added.

Apart from tourism, the department also wants to focus on educating the people on how to sustain and benefit from the tourist through other approaches such as food and other enterprise.

The Sangguniang Bayan raised their support for the DOT campaign and will allot P1.6 million for the view deck and parking space construction in StoBoSa.

Meanwhile, councilor Roderick Awingan also asked if DOT-CAR can augment the allotted budget and at the same time follow up on the promised P1 million funding from the provincial government aligned for the necessary improvement.

According to DOT, StoBoSa is already 80 percent finished and targets to be completed in the next two months.
