Arroyo husband asks Sandiganbayan to allow him to travel abroad

JOSE Miguel Arroyo, husband of Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, asked Monday the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division to allow him to travel abroad.

In his petition, Arroyo said he wants to go to Osaka, Japan from June 16 until 18; Tokyo, Japan from June 18-22; and Hong Kong from June 22 to 26.

"Jose Miguel intends to visit these countries because his grandchildren, Mikaela and Monique fell in love with Japan on their recent visit. They have been begging their parents, Juan Miguel (Mikey) and Angela to take them back, but the couple is unable," the petition read.

The petition said Arroyo will not run away from his pending graft case before the anti-graft division.

"The records will show that Jose Miguel has been arraigned and has posted bail. He is also not a flight risk," the motion read.

The former First Gentleman is facing a graft case in connection with the botched $329 million National Broadband Network (NBN) deal with Chinese firm ZTE Corporation during the presidency of his wife. (Sunnex)
