Inayawan chapel elevated into quasi parish

THE new St. Augustine de Hippo Chapel in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City has recently been promoted into a quasi parish, as announced by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma last Aug. 6.

The announcement was made after the mass celebrated for the feast day of the Our Lady of Consolacion Parish–Recoletos. The chapel will now be known as the St. Augustine of Hippo Quasi Parish–Recoletos.

As a quasi parish, it will now function independently and will now be able to administer sacraments like weddings and baptisms, with Rev. Fr. Anthony Morillo as the chaplain, and Rev. Fr. Jose Teodulfo Jadulco as the assistant parish priest.

This year, Inayawan will celebrate its first fiesta as a quasi parish in honor of St. Augustine de Hippo later this month.

A walk for St. Augustine was held last Friday, Aug. 19, which kicked off the series of religious activities, including a solemn procession at 5 p.m. on Aug. 27.

Among the highlights of the festivities is the annual Puso Festival Parade on Aug. 27.

The parish sits on a 2,000-square-meter property in Sito Summerland, which was purchased by the Order of the Augustinian Recollects.
