ELMO Traya failed on his promise to deliver a knockout and fell short in his international debut.

The 20-year-old Traya fought gallantly but dropped a lopsided unanimous verdict against hometown boy Przemyslaw Runowski in a 10-round title fight for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth International super lightweight title at dawn yesterday at the Amfiteatr in Miedzyzdroje, Poland.

Traya fought bravely but the 22-year-old Runowski fought wisely and outpointed the young Cebuano in the eyes of all three judges. The scores were 100-90, 99-91 and 99-92.

“It was a good fight. The opponent was crafty and knows when to run and clinch,” Traya’s coach Michael Domingo told Sun.Star Cebu.

Traya suffered his second career defeat and dropped to 11-2 with nine knockouts. Traya’s last loss was back in 2013 with a split decision defeat to Diover Mangayaay. His 10-fight winning streak was stopped by Runowski.
