Villar still richest, Trillanes poorest senator in 2014

SENATOR Cynthia Villar remains the richest and only billionaire in the Philippine Senate, while second-termer Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is the poorest.

Villar had a net worth of P1.983 billion in 2014, up from P1.626 billion in 2013, according to her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) released by the Senate on Monday.

Trillanes's net worth, on the other hand, slightly increased to P5.549 million from P4.912 million in 2013.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, who had a net worth of P522 million, remains the second richest senator.

Some senators have been enjoying significant spikes in their net worth. They include Senators Franklin Drilon and Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.

Senator Grace Poe experienced a huge drop in her net worth, from P148.9 million in 2013 to P89.4 million in 2014.

Senators Ramon Revilla Jr., Sergio Osmena III, Francis Escudero, Miriam Defensor Santiago, Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada, Paolo Benigno Aquino IV, and Nancy Binay also saw a decline in their wealth.
