TWO former department heads of Cebu City Hall were reassigned to work with the jail officers in Cebu City Jail.

With the transfer of the two, the management of the city’s jail facility is hopeful that it can fast-track any of their requests for assistance from the City Government.

Engineers Kenneth Carmelita Enriquez and Suzanne Ardosa were transferred to the city jail.

Lawyer Marie Velle Abella, acting chief of the Human Resource Department Office (HRDO) of City Hall, confirmed that the two were reassigned to report to the Office of the Mayor, but were deployed in the city jail.

Abella said that Enriquez and Ardosa were given special assignments to work in the prison and extend help that will involve their work expertise.

Report

City Jail Warden Supt. Jessie Calumpang also confirmed that the two engineers have already reported to them.

Calumpang has assigned them to monitor the development plan of the jail.

“Hopefully for good sa jail ang gibuhat sa mayor nga gibutangan niya ug engineers kay kung naa mi mga request sa City, sila na mopadangat sa City Hall,” he added.

Enriquez used to be the head of Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) during the time of former mayor Michael Rama before she was tasked to head the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO).

Ardosa, on the other hand, used to head the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP), also during Rama’s term.

Acting

As of last night, the two were not available for comment on their new assignment.

As this developed, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña also appointed Engr. Gamaliel Vicente Jr. as the new acting chief of DEPW.

“For and in the exigency of public service, you are hereby designated as officer-in-charge of DEPW. As such, you are hereby mandated to perform the duties and responsibilities as the head of DEPW,” read portion the memorandum of Osmeña.

The memorandum was issued last Aug. 1.

Abella said Vicente used to work for the Department of Public Works and Highways and applied for the position as city engineer.
