A TOTAL of 67 police officers in Western Visayas undergo a one week training starting Monday, August 22 for the second batch of Character and Aptitude Development Training (Cadet) at the Police Regional Office (PRO) at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.
Police Regional Office Information Officer Gilbert Gorero said the training is the command’s strategy in fighting against illegal drugs and corruption among men in uniform and expected to enhance the value of internal and external transformation of participants towards their respective work as police officers and protector of the citizenry.
With the second batch are eight officers and 59 non-commissioned officers who were relieved from their present assignment and reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit 6.
Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles gave awards and recognition to personnel of PRO for displaying an exemplary ability as police officers.
The awarding was held during the flag raising ceremony at Camp Delgado on Monday, August 22.
The Medalya ng Kagalingan or the PNP Medal of Merit were awarded to the members of Guimaras Police Provincial Office Anti-Illegal Drugs, Buenavista Municipal Police Station, Guimaras Provincial Public Safety Company, headed by Chief Inspector Dante Tayco, and 20 others for their commendable performance during a drug bust in Sitio Carig-on, Barangay Agsanayan Buenavista, Guimaras last August 18 which resulted to the untimely death of known drug personality Renante Tanaleon.
Recovered from Tanaleon were three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing methamphetamine, also known as shabu, one unit of .357 revolver loaded with four live cartridges and one unit motorcycle.
Same awards were also given to Inspector John Ryan Doceo, Police Officer (PO)3 Hizron Baterbonia and PO2 Mark Neil Latorre of Iloilo Police Provincial Office Intelligence Branch and Banate Municipal Police Station for the successful conduct of a drug bust which resulted to the arrest of Punong Barangay Rodolfo Baldemor and Ronan Baldemor last August 8 at Brgy Talokgangan, Banate, Iloilo.
Chief Inspector Elmer Magbanua, Senior Inspector Ariel Corcino, Senior PO1 Carlos Villanueva and PO2 Gonzalo Plete Jr of Passi City Police Station, Pototan Municipal Police Station and IPPO Focus Team Bravo were also given the same awards for the conduct of drug bust which resulted to the untimely death of Michael Huesca and arrest of Suela Mamon and four others on August 18 at Railway St., Poblacion Ilaya, Passi City.
Recovered were 14 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, one 38 revolver loaded of two live cartridges, seven live cartridges, drug bust money amounting to P1,000, eight pieces assorted cellphones and other illegal paraphernalia.
