Ex-UAAP volley belles in Iloilo for camp skill training

A TEAM of female volleyball players culled from different colleges and universities in Metro Manila who saw action in the UAAP and NCAA championship volleyball games are currently in Iloilo City for a three-day series of camp skills training and games.

Headed by Alyssa Valdez “The Phenom” of the Ateneo Lady Eagles, a four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the UAAP, the seven-woman team will saw action on Saturday, August 27, at Central Philippine University Gym for an event dubbed “The Phenomenal Match” the Best of the Best, a volleyball game for a cause against selected women volleyball players of Iloilo.

Alyssa said she is a graduate already and saw her last game in May 2016.

She said she loved the sports and would like to share it to young people in the Philippines.

A reported girlfriend of Ilonggo basketball star Keifer Ravena, Alyssa said she likes the Ilonggo seafood, especially talaba and crabs.

The Iloilo City Council has approved an amusement tax exemption for the event requested by Mary Ann Darroca-Matiling of the Athletics and Sport Development Inc.

The Alyssa Valdez team will also conduct skills training for young volleyball players at the Ateneo de Iloilo gym as an advocacy to bring volleyball awareness and appreciation in the provinces.
