Valley Council approves GSO creation

THE SANGGUNIANG Bayan of La Trinidad in Benguet has approved on third reading the proposed ordinance creating a General Services Office.

During last week's session, the Municipal Council gave the green light for an additional local government office which will cater to the need of maintaining the existing equipment and facilities of the LGU.

Councilor Nestor Fongwan Jr., the proponent of the law said the creation of a municipal GSO will be a great help in taking care of government owned equipments, maintenance of the municipal building including electrical and plumbing needs.

"If there will be an existing GSO office the work for the existing personnel will be more managed at the same time we can always pinpoint the municipality's needs particular to them," Fongwan said.

Prior to the municipal council's approval of ordinance, consultations from the various offices of the LGU has been made particularly to the Treasurer's Office who will allocate the compensation for a GSO head officer and/or additional personnel.

Meanwhile, mayor Romeo Salda gave his approval for the pushed ordinance.

According to Salda the creation of a GSO office will allow the municipality to attend to the needs of preserving and maintaining its present and future resources.

Apart from the maintenance of equipment the creation of a GSO office is also one of the requisites for La Trinidad to apply for becoming a full-pledged city in the congress.
