P5M eyed for StoBoSa view deck, parking

MEMBERS of the La Trinidad Municipal Council in Benguet are eyeing to earmark P5 million for the proposed improvements at the "StoBoSa Hillside Homes Artwork" along Kilometer 3.

The amount is set to cover the construction of a viewing deck and parking area, including other possible improvements needed to make the area a viable tourist spot.

Committee on Tourism Special Events, Sisterhood and External Affairs chair and Councilor Guiller Galwan said the allocation is still being sourced despite the earlier approval of a supplemental budget from the local government.

As of September 1, La Trinidad has already allocated P1.6 million for some of the proposed improvements, while other contributions are still being processed.

The town official said they are also seeking financial help from the Office of the Governor and the Office of the Congressman.

"We have passed a resolution to request the Governor some P1.5 million and the Congressman with another P1 million," Galwan said.

Apart from that, the Municipal Council has also asked the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Cordillera if it can shoulder the remaining P1 million as a counterpart for the project which the department has spearheaded last year.

According to Galwan, the funding will be enough for the improvements of the area.

Galwan added the Municipal Engineering Office has already started to draft plans for the construction of the parking and view deck.

In the recent assessment made by the DOT, the paintjob at the favella-inspired mural is already 80 percent finished and targets to be completed in the next two months.
