5 nabbed in drug busts

A DRUG surrenderee and four persons were caught in separate anti-illegal drug operations yesterday in Barangays Tejero, Guadalupe and Sambag 2 in Cebu City.

The Fuente police caught Francis Aniñon, 33, during a buy-bust in his house on Visitacion Ext., Barangay Sambag 2 and admitted that he was scared for his life.

“Mahadlok man pud (Of course, I’m scared),” he said.

He yielded nine small and one medium sachets of alleged shabu with an estimated worth of P20,000.

Aniñon submitted himself to Oplan Tokhang and promised not to sell drugs anymore.

But a police surveillance revealed that he continued his illegal business.

After the drug pushers are encouraged to support the Tokhang, they are monitored to evaluate if they returned to their old ways or not.

Last Wednesday afternoon, the Waterfront Police Station caught Alnie “Opao” Arenas, 22, and Junrel Arenas, 22, in another buy-bust in Sitio Looban, Villagonzalo II, Barangay Tejero.

Three small sachets of shabu and P500 buy-bust money were recovered from them.

Police Station 9, headed by Chief Insp. Jose Gesto, also arrested Juvenile “Juven” Goopio, 37, and Manolito Lañojan, 43, when shabu was confiscated from them in Sitio Kanaas, Singson Barangay Guadalupe last Wednesday.

Police seized four small sachets of shabu from Goopio while from Lañojan were two small sachets and various drug paraphernalia.

Recently, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for possession of a large pack of shabu and P400,000 cash.

She said the stash was from her uncle who was detained in the Cebu City Jail.

Shabu weighing 70 grams and P4.6 million cash were seized inside the jail during a surprise Oplan Galugad.
