Other improvements eyed in La Trinidad's Stobosa

OFFICIALS of La Trinidad are contemplating whether it will include a redesigned the frontage of the "Stobosa Hillside Homes Artwork" in its master development plan.

Councilor Guiller Galwan is pitching the idea after the LGU tasked the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO) to start creating a master plan to serve as the basis for the improvement of the favella-inspired mural in Kilometer 3.

Galwan, who also chairs the committee on Tourism Special Events, Sisterhood and External Affairs, said studies are being made to ensure the image of the new tourist attraction in the Valley will meet the expectations of domestic and international tourists.

“We already requested the Engineering Office to create the plans for the improvements in Stobosa. We are considering making the frontage more attractive,” Galwan said.

The proposal will include the reconstruction of the existing plant boxes along the roadside which according to tourists hinders the view of the area.

“Siguro the plant boxes will be replaced with lower ones, pero definitely it will not be removed. If it obstructs the sight from the roadside we can make adjustments to this, but we will still have to wait for the completion of the plan by the MOE,” Galwan added.

Meanwhile, Department of Tourism-Cordillera regional director Marie Venus Tan said their office will be distributing flowering plants to the LGU particularly to the residents of the Stobosa to help not only in repelling mosquitoes but will also add value to the improvements of Stobosa.

“We want the people to get these flowering plants and place it in their porches and homes fronting the Stobosa. This is included in the Rev-Bloom project initiated in that particular place,” Tan said.

The Municipal Council has allotted P1.6 million for the construction of a view deck and parking space in the area prior to the expected downpour of tourists later this year.
