Pelayo: Alexander reigns today

TODAY! The president of Partido Abe Kapampangan soars high with flying colors, so to speak. The brilliant mind of Alexander Cauguiran has finally been recognized by the new government under Duterte administration. The blaring voice of AbeKa who also happens to be the chief-of-staff of Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan deserves the appointment of being the President and CEO of Clark International Airport Corporation - it’s a no-brainer. President Duterte could not have picked a better, more qualified person who is cut for the job to develop and maximize the potential of the Clark airport.

Who would have thought that today, this former student leader who was a vigorous Kapampangan activist some thirty years ago, who’s also a former 2-term city councilor and a former EVP of CRK, is now the head of the airport at the same location where he led demonstrations outside the gates of then Clark Air Base. From demanding for a transformation to piloting the air transportation in this region, Cauguiran has come a long way, and he has sacrificed a lot – even his aspiration to serve as vice mayor of his beloved city. He did not waste time on his first day and on his first week alone he has already made a national appearance when he was able to apprehend a foreign national trying to sneak through some illegal drugs amounting to more than 16 million pesos in value.

Today, he faces a new challenge, and it’s a test he is willing to take in order to attain the ultimate dream of transforming the very capable airport. During the past campaigns of the local elections, the great Alexander has been sonant in continuing the good change, hence the slogan “isundu tamu ing mayap a pamagbayu” spawned. So, this new task of changing for the better seemed nothing new for this man. Last July of this year, Cauguiran and his group ADAPT (Advocacy for Dual Airport Priority) has released a manifesto for the development of the Clark International Airport as a major gateway. He presented the same during the visits of hopeful senatoriables and presidentiables in the recent 2016 campaign period. All of these national figures appeared to take interest to the unveiled ideas, including Senators Francis Escudero and Grace Poe who even filed a senate resolution pushing for actions to address immediate development of the said airport.

Today, we expect fewer impediments against advancement of the CRK. No more “crazy idea” as described by Cauguiran himself when he told this remark in the face of former DOTC Secretary Abaya on Sangley Point proposal. The people can now look forward to put on afterburners while bidding good riddance to the monkey wrench of the previous administration.

Today, let’s pray for this man that he may be able to successfully meet our dream for the development of CRK and for the decongestion of Metro Manila traffic as well as decongestion of air traffic. Like Pastor Alejandrino who is very passionate on his pray over, let us beseech our Lord to give him strength to pull his way through this daunting task.

Today, more than ever before, let us continue the good change.
