Zamboanga village official nabbed in drug bust

A VILLAGE official yielded illegal drugs and unlicensed gun when arrested by policemen in an anti-drug operation in the eastern part of Zamboanga City.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) spokesman Rogelio Alabata identified the arrested official as Erico Rivera, 42, a village councilor in Mampang.

Alabata said Rivera was arrested in a drug bust operation around 6:30 p.m., Saturday, in Estrada Drive in the village of Mampang.

Police Station 6 Commander Nonito Asdai said Rivera is listed as a high-value target in the drug watch list of his office.

Asdai said the arresting team confiscated from the possession of Rivera an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol with four live ammunition, three small-sized sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," P300 marked money of P100 bills and a mobile phone.

Asdai said Rivera is detained and appropriate charges are set to be filed against him.
