Palace declares September 12 regular holiday for Eid'l Adha

MALACAÑANG has officially declared September 12, Monday, as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday signed Proclamation 56, declaring September 12 as holiday, upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

Republic Act 9849 provides that Eid’l Adha, one of Islam’s two major feasts along with Eid’l Fitr, shall be celebrated as regular holiday.

Eid’l Adha is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated by Muslims around the world and is considered holier than Edi’l Fitr.

The copy of the proclamation, which was also signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, was released on Tuesday. (Sunnex)
