BFP-NIR personnel undergo drug test

A TOTAL of 287 personnel and officers of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Negros Island Region (BFP-NIR) underwent a mandatory drug test Tuesday as they go on full alert status, following the Davao blast that killed at least 14 people and injured 70 others on September 2.

Senior Superintendent Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu, regional director of BFP-NIR, said the remaining 218 personnel will be subjected to the same test Wednesday.

Personnel who fail to undergo a test due to personal circumstances are scheduled to take another test, Tiu said.

The names of those with positive results will be forwarded to the national headquarters and they will be subjected to a confirmatory test, Tiu said.

He added that they also conducted personnel inventory to determine the active and non-active members of the BFP.

“We just want to make sure that all personnel are accounted for,” Tiu said.
