9 yield, 6 positive in drug test at SBT

SIX persons were found positive of drugs while nine persons surrendered during the random drug testing by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) at the South Bus Terminal last Wednesday.

Seventy-two persons-including drivers, conductors, controllers, dispatchers, janitors, vendors and personnel-underwent the drug test.

Ang kining siyam nga mi-admit mostly are vendors and dispatchers. Sa pagkakaron dili sila pwede mu-dispatch ug mubaligya apan aduna pa silaý chance nga makabalik (The nine who submitted themselves were mostly vendors and dispatchers. They’re not allowed to dispatch or sell as of now, but they can return later),” said South Bus Terminal Chief Herrera.

Herrera emphasized that the surrenderees should involve themselves in an intervention program and should not use illegal drugs anymore before they can return to the terminal.

Meanwhile, the six persons who were found positive will be immediately barred from driving and other terminal operations.

Kadtong mga ni-positive wala na gyod to sila. Matanggal gyod to sila (Those who are positive are out. They should be removed),” Herrera said.

Herrera said that the advantage of those who surrendered is that they are given a a chance, unlike those who did not.

Herrera said he will talk to the head of the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) to ask for help on what intervention program to give to the surrenderees.

“It’s just confirmed nga naa gyud mogamit og drugs diri sa terminal, mao nang mibuhat ta ani nga lakang (that there are really drug users, that’s why we made this move),” Herrera said. Apple Grace C. Danuco, USJ-R Intern
