IN LINE with the Islamic celebration, Eid al-Adha, on Monday, September 12, a non-profit organization will give out a thousand bags of beef to people of different cultures in Davao City to celebrate peace and unity.
The beef-sharing project of Filipino-Turkish educational group Integrative Center for Alternative Development (Icad) Foundation has been running on the country since 2001.
Icad's representative to Davao City Mustafa Gun said the organization would like to promote peace and understanding among people of different cultures through sharing.
"This event crosses across religions and cultures, it is for all to celebrate common understanding," Gun said in an interview with SunStar Davao on Thursday, September 8, when he visited the office to help spread the cause.
It is the second time for the organization to conduct a beef sharing event in the city. They are set to give away more a than a thousand kilos of beef which they bought from Bukidnon.
Gun has personally visited universities as well as random offices to distribute coupons that will entail 2 kilograms of beef each. The event will be at Rizal Park, 1 p.m. on Friday, September 9.
The foundation is a non-stock, non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1996 that operates a total of four international schools in the country - the two Fountain International Schools in San Juan, and two Filipino-Turkish Tolerance Schools in Zamboanga City.
It is affiliated with international foundations that help in establishing schools around the world to promote peace and understanding through education among people of diverse cultures. (CCC)
