Capitol allocates P700,000 for 31st Negros Trade Fair

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has allocated P700,000 as financial aid to the Association of Negros Producers (ANP) for the hosting of this year's Negros Trade Fair at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City on September 14 to 18.

The Provincial Board during its regular session Wednesday approved a resolution authorizing Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to sign a memorandum of agreement with ANP relative to the provision of fund to be sourced from the 2016 lump sum appropriation under grants and donations.

The Negros Trade Fair, which is now on its 31st year, is an annual event organized by the ANP in partnership with the provincial government.

ANP president Ina Gaston had earlier said the event is a platform to invite more people to come to the province.

Themed “Tourism and Biodiversity,” this year’s trade fair will again feature about 75 selling booths, showcasing products of more than 100 member-producers.

The products will showcase truly Negrense creativity and skills and the entrepreneurial spirit of the local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Gaston said.

With this number of participating producers and more improved products they are bringing, ANP said it is positive to surpass its last year's sales of about P19.5 million.
