Go files SSS pension hike, BLISTT bill

THE HOUSE of Representatives’ Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization approved on September 7 the 15 house bills calling for the increase of the minimum monthly pension of SSS members.

Among the approved bills was HB 1853 filed by Cong. Mark Go of Baguio earlier.

“Although my bill differs from the other proposed measures because the additional P2,000 will be implemented in four tranches, the spirit of seeking to amend the Social Security Act of 1997 by increasing the minimum pension from P1,200 to P3,200 is the same. This is why I am thankful the Committee approved the bill,” said Go.

“There is finally hope for SSS pensioners, who have not received any significant pension hike, to have their meager monthly pension augmented and thereby helping them cope up with the higher cost of living,” added the solon.

Go also delivered his second privilege speech where he underscored Baguio’s history, the many challenges the city is facing, and expounded on House Bill 1554 seeking to integrate Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay (BLISTT) into a special development and administrative area.

“My proposed legislation was for the creation of a Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay Development Authority (BLISTTDA). This proposed measure intends to centralize and oversee the development efforts and initiatives that would address the challenges and problems confronting the City of Baguio and the five municipalities,” Go said.
