Pelayo: ACPO is the best in Central Luzon

IN THE whole region 3, the Angeles City Police Office has been honoured as the Best City Police Office. The award has been handed by PNP Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa with regional director Police Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino which was held in Camp Olivas last week. ACPO has also been cited at the Top 2 best city police office in the Philippines. The city's police force is currently being headed by the very dynamic acting city director Senior Superintendent Sidney Villaflor.

The moment he assumed the position, CD Villaflor did not take his job lightly. Even before Duterte won the presidency, the active city director has already started with the "change" for he may have anticipated it coming soon. And it was not long before Mayor Ed Pamintuan lauded the efforts and achievements of Police Senior Superintendent. Almost every day, Col. Villaflor is consistently giving updates to the city mayor on its campaign against crime and illegal drugs. For quite some time now, Angeles City has been spared by street crimes caused by riding-in-tandem groups coming from neighboring towns and provinces because they are either apprehended or these criminals have a scary idea of how they would end up.

And with the support of the President to the men and women in uniform, ACPO and Villaflor has augmented their efforts in maintaining peace and order and prevention of crime and its war on prohibited drugs. Just this recent from July to the end of August, more than a hundred anti-illegal drug operations had already been conducted; almost 200 suspects involved in drugs have been arrested, 20 suspects have been killed in an armed encounter; 23 firearms have been recovered from these operations; and less than a hundred sachet of suspected shabu have been confiscated. In that short span of time alone, ACPO has visited the houses of 2,265 persons involved with drugs while 1,518 volunteered to surrender.

Villaflor is not only focused on peace and order but also does the internal cleaning in his office as well. A random drug test conducted under his watch resulted in six of his men having been tested positive of drug use. Charges and sanctions have been made and the CD plans to continue the cleansing to make sure all his men and women will not be tempted to join the outlaw.

Impressed by what he sees, Mayor Ed Pamintuan has been consistent in supporting the programs and activities of ACPO under the leadership of Sidney Villaflor. Patrol vehicles and motorcycles have been provided for the use of police officers in all six stations of the city, and Villaflor is making sure that all of these units are being used appropriately.

Being a member of the City Advisory Council of ACPO, I have witnessed how these brave officers of the Angeles City Police Office work zealously while on duty. And through their adherence to serve and protect, the community here in Angeles City are becoming more complacent in working hand-in-hand with our local authority.
