BI arrests 2 Korean fugitives

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested two Korean fugitives in separate operations conducted in Manila and Pampanga.

In a news release the BI issued Monday, it announced that the BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) has apprehended 50-year-old Jang Te Wen, in Barangay Anunas, Angeles City, Pampanga and 55-year-old Yoon Sung Ki at Midas Hotel in Manila on September 6.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the illegal aliens will be sent back to Korea as soon the bureau secures the clearances needed for their deportation.

“Both of them will be deported for posing a risk to public interest and for being undesirable aliens,” Morente said.

According to BI-FSU head Atty. Jose Carlitos Licas, Jang has been on the BI’s wanted list since June 2015 when a summary deportation order and arrest warrant were issued against him by the BI board of commissioners.

Jang is wanted for murdering a fellow Korean on January 25, 2003. Yoon, on the other hand, is wanted for defrauding a Korean of 357 million won which he and his wife swindled after making the victim believed that his money would be returned with interest.

Yoon and his wife fled to the Philippines on October 13, 2010. His wife, who is also wanted, remains at large and an object of a manhunt by the BI operatives. (Sunnex)
