GILAS Pilipinas bounced back from three straight defeats by beating Kazakhstan, 98-86, in the second round of the 2016 Fiba Asia Challenge in Tehran, Iran Tuesday, September 13.

The Filipinos dominated three-point shooting with 40.9 percent as against the Kazakhs' 5.3 percent but the latter had better two-point field goal percentage of 56.6 over the former's 47.1 percent.

Kazakhstan edged Philippines in the boards, 49-44, but suffered in the turnovers, 21-16. Gilas, however, scored 11 in fast break points over the rival's four and also grabbed more steals, 12-4.

The win came on the heels of the 65-75 loss to China earlier. Gilas cut their 13-point halftime deficit to six points going to the final period.

But the Chinese pulled off a 10-2 run for a 67-53 advantage barely five minutes and 39 seconds left then kept its composure to secure the triumph.
