THE Run for BB 8 Superheroes Run on Oct. 2 in Mandaue City will help raise funds for children undergoing cancer therapy.
The event, which will be held in Park Mall and is organized by Code Blue Running Team, is now on its seventh year and will be donating all the proceeds to Kythe Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization that assists indigent children with cancer and other chronic illness.
The run will feature the men’s and women’s 16-kilometer, 8K, 4K and 2K open divisions. Aside from the open category, there will be a division for the physicians, registered nurses, physical therapists, medical technologists, pharmacists, radiologic technologists and midwives.
Race organizer Naomi Fajardo said in a press conference yesterday that last year they were able to raise P50,000 for their beneficiary.
“We hope to raise more funds this year because Kythe Foundation now has about 100 children under their care,” she said.
The president of Philippine Nurses’ Association (PNA-Cebu Chapter), Joseph Stephen Descallar, said that they will be inviting colleges of nursing, nurses in the hospitals and BPO nurses to join the run for a cause.
The organizers said they included the 2K category this year for the people who are not into running but want to donate to the beneficiary. Fajardo is hoping to get 1,000 runners so they can give more to Kythe Foundation Inc.
Also present during the press conference were Shalom Rea Bernales and Christopher James Mabuyo, the representatives of Kythe Foudation Inc.
Cash prizes will be given to the Top 3 runners in the men’s and women’s 16K, 8K and 4K. All the finishers in the 16K will also receive a medal.
Registration fee is at P650 for the 16K, P450 for the 8K, P350 for the 4K and P350 for the 2K inclusive of singlet, race bib, and snacks.
Registration sites are at PNA Clubhouse, Parkmall Concierge, Runnr Store in Ayala Center Cebu, Mendero Medical Center and Infinitea Stores.
