CHARGES for sale and possession of illegal drugs were filed by the police Friday against the two suspects who yielded P3 million worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust Thursday afternoon in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Superintendent Willy Diel, chief of Silay City Police Station, said charged were Silay residents Dennis Esmeralda, and Jimsel Balboa, who were found possessing 300 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
The complaints were filed before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Bacolod.
Esmeralda is tagged as the number one drug suspect in the police watchlist of Muntinlupa City, the Silay police said.
Both suspects were arrested at Silay City proper after they sold P1,000 worth of shabu to police poseur-buyer at around 5 p.m. Thursday.
Operatives saw Balboa carrying a package, alerting them to seize the box to check its contents. They introduced themselves as policemen. When they opened the box shipped through courier company, they found bottles of lotion and shampoo, toilet papers, soaps, and canned goods.
When they slashed open the plastic bottles, they discovered inside 17 packs of suspected shabu.
Based on the information outside the box, the package was sent to Balboa by Pocholo Bernabe of Purok Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.
Mayor Mark Golez commended the Silay City Police Station for their accomplishment, saying it is a major breakthrough in his administration’s war against drugs in line with the thrust of President Rodrigo Duterte. (GYM with reports from PNA)
