8 Baguio archers to see action in Dumaguete

THE Baguio Archers Club will send eight contingents to the Visayas leg of the Philippine Archery Cup slated September 23-25, 2016 in Dumaguete City.

Participants include Adrienne Ysabel Parayno of Baguio City High School who won a bronze medal in the girl’s Bowman category during the Mindanao leg.

Parayno will be joined by BAC teammates Jericho Rafael Dienzo, Resha Dan Ronquillo and Giesabelle Jireh Crosco.

BAC coach John Hongitan said they will also be fielding its new archer from Butuan City, Caelan Nicholas Saval who bagged a gold medal in the 70 meters men’s division during the Palarong Pambansa held in Albay earlier this year.

“Saval joined the team earlier in July,” Hongitan said.

Para archers Giovanni Ola, Agustina Bantiloc and Allan Campos will likewise be joining the qualifying competition in a bid to make through the finals next year.

“Our archers performed well during the first leg of PAC held in Koronadal City last July 15-17 and we hope to maintain, even improve our standing in the last three parts of the league as this will be the basis of those who will be representing our country in the Southeast Asian Games next year,” Hongitan said.

The Baguio team bagged six gold, four silvers and three bronzes during the Mindanao leg of PAC inching closer to their dream of qualifying for the Kuala Lumpur SEAG in August next year.

Other medalists include Kareel Meer Hongitan of the University of Baguio who bagged double gold in the elimination and qualifying rounds of the senior’s category while Loren Chloe Balaoing also garnered double gold in the junior category while her fellow Shanaya Dangla earned double silvers for the same category.

Pandora’s Box archery range on the other hand will be joining the Visayas leg of PAC. Pandora’s box agged medals through Carl Michael Gian Kristo Ramirez (gold and silver), Quintin Tanseco (gold and silver) while Johnson Bumidang earned double bronze in the barebow category.

Athletes who were able to bag medals in the first leg of PAC will also be joining the second and third qualifying rounds in November.
