Eastmincom to revive Task Force Anti-Terrorism

THE Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) plans to activate a joint "Task Force Anti-Terrorism" as security forces continue to strengthen its security measures in their areas of responsibility (AORs).

Eastmincom public information officer Major Ezra Balagtey said the military and the police, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, are already studying the functions of the task force.

Balagtey said the command has been intensifying their combat operations against terrorism to ensure the safety of the people in their AORs. He added that all security measures in Eastern Mindanao have been in place.

Davao City Public Safety Security Command Center (PSSCC) head Retired General Benito de Leon said the security forces have been doing security restructuring to ensure the bombing incident in the city will not happen again.

Aside from more closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras needed, de Leon said, the center also saw the need for the city to acquire four mobile CCTVs that will secretly roam around the city and its nearby areas.

De Leon said security forces also discussed the rationalization of the checkpoints, to have police and military visibility and more mobile patrols 24/7.
