THE regional office of the Commission on Higher Education Region (Ched) has recommended 37 private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from Davao that will be allowed to increase tuition for 2015-2016.
But Ched-Davao Education Supervisor II Dr. Caesar Adegue IV said Thursday that they are still waiting for the final list of the schools approved after the deliberation conducted by regional directors and officials of Ched central office in Manila.
Adegue said the proposed tuition increase is lower than the 5.39 percent regional inflation rate set by the National Economic and Development Authority.
"Maganda ngayon ang figure natin compared last year na mga around 10 percent talaga ang increase sa tuition and other fees," he said.
He said they had only recommended 37 schools because other institutions had problems in their application requirements.
Recent reports revealed that the Ched central office had approved 313 out of 405 HEIs in the country for an increase in tuition and other school fees.
