A PROPOSED circumferential road project for BLISTT areas was recently given a funding by the Department of Public Works in Highways.

Dolly Molintas of the Planning Division of the National Economic and Development Authority – Cordillera Regional Office on Tuesday said the chief executives of the Baguio, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay area will be informed the budget for the proposed BLISTT circumferential road project is now included in the 2017 budget of the DPWH.

To complete the process, the chief executives will have to comply with the required monetary equivalent of the road-right-of-way added, Molintas said.

The construction of an outer circumferential road was reached by the BLISTT mayors and their respective planning officers with Neda.

Earlier, Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, chairman of the BLISTT Area Project, said the estimated cost of the road project is about P2 billion which may be sourced from the DPWH and Department of Tourism.

The road, if completed, will boost local trade and tourism industries in the BLISTT area.

The circumferential road will be connected with existing national roads and unpassable areas, Domogan said.

The new members of the BLISTT Area Project include Mayors Romeo Salda (La Trinidad), Ignacio Rivera (Tuba), and Armando Lauro (Tublay).

Other members are re-elected Mayors Victorio Palangdan (Itogon), and Arthur Baldo of Sablan. (PNA)
