Arayateño passes blind audition of Voice of Romania

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Kapampangan singer Rose Marie Velasquez turned four chairs on The Voice of Romania on Friday.

Everyone was thrilled by Velasquez’s performance after giving her audience her flawless version of Andra Day’s 2015 hit, “Rise Up.”

The 28-year old singer from Barangay Bitas, Arayat advanced to the next round as all four coaches - pop star Loredana Groza, actor-singer Tudor Chirila, Grammy-nominated producer-composer Marius Moga, and singer/songwriter Smiley turned their chairs showing that they were all impressed by Velasquez’s perfect interpretation of the song.

“The way you sang fascinated me,” Groza commented.

All the coaches had high hopes of having Velasquez in their teams, but in the end, Velasquez selected Smiley’s, and even told the singer “I love you!”

When she was asked on how she ended up joining The Voice of Romania, Velasquez said that she was only on a birthday trip when she found out about the audition. On that same day, she filled up the online form.

Velasquez is the fifth The Voice Romania contestant who received four-chair turns in this season. Just like The Voice of the Philippines, this reality singing competition is based on the original show, The Voice of Holland. (Pamela Velasquez/UA Intern)
