

A HOUSE helper and a painter died after they were electrocuted in Purok Daisy, Barangay Talacagay, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The fatalities were a 36-year-old woman, a house helper and resident of Barangay Bongalonan, Basay, Negros Oriental; and a 40-year-old man, a painter and resident of Purok Esmeralda, Barangay Talacagay, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
Major Jaynick Bermudez, chief of the Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station, said the woman, who was working as a house helper in Barangay Talacagay, was doing laundry around 10 a.m.
While hanging clothes on the clothesline, she accidentally touched a grounded wire and was electrocuted. The painter, who was also in the area, tried to rescue her but also touched the grounded wire and was electrocuted.
The victims were brought to Eleuterio Decena Memorial Hospital, but both of them did not survive.
The Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station has already addressed the electrical hazard in the area with the assistance of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) to ensure public safety and prevent similar incidents. (MAP)
