THE state weather bureau hoisted storm signal number one the four provinces after Tropical Storm Chedeng has intensified further.
In its 4 a.m. Tuesday advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the storm was located at 540 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar.
Chedeng packed winds of 105 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is moving west northwest at 17 kph.
The provinces under storm signal number one are Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar.
The agency advised residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under signal number one to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Chedeng is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao, the Pagasa added. (Sunnex)
